I don't see why the Children won't/will listen distinction is confusing. You explain it quite clearly in your first post.

Indeed, children may not obey you, but they will listen, therefore be careful the tale you tell. And that is the entire purpose of this show, no? What you see has confusing, I find to be a dramatic arc and an interesting lyrical duality. To each his own.
