Not Boring at All

THE RIVER has a poetic, meandering feel to it. It's less plot-centric than a deeply felt meditation on how difficult it is for some people to make a true connection with another person. That is its beauty (aside from Hugh Jackman, of course). There's also a fair bit of light-heartedness in early scenes that elicits laughs and helps us get to know the women in fisherman Jackman's life--and understand his real passion.
