I don't see it as vanity. It's nice to see someone put effort into a role rather than phoning it in as many A-listers do and be recognized for it. The Award shows don't actually mean anything for us, but it's nice to see a deserving actor/actress rewarded. Bradley Cooper is a good example as he has proven quite versatile in these past years and not one-note like others. Clooney for example IMHO.
