Cabaret Seating

Is it better to be at one of the floor tables or the tables in the front mezz. Thanks.

I sat in the front mezzanine. You are still close enough to see everyone's facial expressions. Also, you get a little table to place your drinks on.

The stage is in two tiers, with the band in the second tier, above the stage. Alan Cumming spends a lot of the show in the second tier, watching the show. So I dont know if you notice him when you are at the tables near the stage. But it is often interesting to watch Alan Cumming's reaction to the action on the stage.

I was at a front table on the side, and it was frustrating to me that I could not see Linda Emond for most of 'So What?" and for a significant portion of "What Would You Do?" I tried shifting my chair a little, but I didn't want to disturb the people around me. And I think I would have had to shift it a lot to fix the problem.

I'm not the biggest fan of this production, but I was liking Emond's performances of both songs and was a bit annoyed that I couldn't see her when slight blocking changes would have solve the problem. Just put her downstage of him (or them, for "What Would You Do?"). This isn't really a thrust stage (although some tables are to the side of the extension) so these kinds of slghtline problems ought not to be necessary.

Anyway, if you can't get a center table downstairs, upstairs might be better. That would probably solve the problem. I didn't realize there were tables upstairs.

Or it might not be a problem if you're simply on the higher level of tables downstairs. But if you're going for a table downstairs, go for center or the higher level.

I don't think there are tables upstairs per se, at least not tables like downstairs. But in the front mezz, my understanding is that they have mini-tables in between seats to put a drink on.

Are those still there? During the run of Assassins, they were selling food and wine that people could take to those tables. I left about 15 minutes into a performance of Assassins because sitting next to me had a glass of wine, french fries and ketchup on a plate on her table. It was very smelly. I asked her to stop eating and drinking (I think there was a cover she could have put over the food), and she wouldn't.

I got up during the applause for the next number and asked to speak to the house manager. He offered me tickets for another performance. Soon after they seemed to stop selling food like that.

Stone. I sat at an Orch table close to the stage & looked up at the mezzanine & the same side tables they had up there when the show moved to Studio 54 were there again.

Let's hope it's just a Cabaret thing. And I hope they're not selling french fries with ketchup available for the side.

I had the 5 dollar pretzel myself, but couldn't remember the rest of the offerings. :)

I fervently hope they return to traditional seats before the next show opens there. Hate the tables & hate the eating (I ate my pretzel during intermission)

If so, you might want to get a subscription. I bought one for the first time at roundabout. I got front table for cabaret, orch side for 20th and picked Therese in the fall for the third show for 270. That cabaret ticket is worth 190 and there aren't discounts for front tables. 20thC discount is 89or 99. So the third show in the fall is free and I could not have gotten the cabaret location without a subscription.

If you want to be closer and "in the action" choose a floor table.

if you want a wider view and less interaction, mezz.

We lucked into cancellations a couple of Saturdays ago, and got a pair at a table a bit to the right of center. It was lots of fun being that close and "in the cabaret," but there may be more central sightlines back farther. I'm normally very finicky about being too far to the side (which is why I hate the American Airlines Theatre--too wide), but for this show "I Didn't Care Much," if I may pun.
