Rear Mezz for Something Rotten at the St. James

Posted by: RobinW 08:07 pm EST 01/19/15

Someone else has a thread about the front mezz there, and I tacked on my question but thought I'd move my question to the top. Bear with me...I know that my seat options only differ by about $20 a ticket, but with three of us that adds up; plus, we're seeing four other shows.
Something Rotten is the last show that I need to book for my daughters and me for Monday, March 30th. It'll barely have begun previews. The preview prices look pretty good. I sat in the second row of the balcony for Gypsy and don't want to sit there again even though the seats are only $37 each. (I remember the person in front of me blocked my view, and I'm 5'7"!)
The last two rows of the mezz are only $37 each, with several rows in front of them only $57 before they switch to $79. There are also some $79 orchestra seats that look like they're where I sat for Finian's Rainbow--great view of the stage. (Most of the orchestra is $142 each.)
I know that mezz row A overhangs orch 9th row and that balcony row A overhangs 4th row mezz.
Thanks for any tips.

I was in last row center rear mezz (right next to the rear doors) for Side Show's first preview and had no complaints about the view. I also happily sat a few rows lower at a later performance. Any sightline issues were ones I'm used to being 5'2", not due to the specific theater setup.

Thanks so much. I just double checked to make sure those last two mezz rows are only $37 a seat. Sounds great!

Remember when we were all convinced that tickets couldn't go above $100?

I sat in the front mid mezz (or rear front mezz?) of the St. James for "Side Show", and I thought the view was great. Mid mezz at $57 should be (in modern day terms) a fairly good deal.

When I saw side show for the 2nd time my tdf seat was on the far side of the orch and I had a really big person siting next to me and was really uncomfortable. So for act 2 I moved up to the mezz which was about 1/2 full and sat in the very last row center section and it was great much better than the side orch. seat. Hope this helps.

liam44:
To clarify, were you in the last row of the center mezz? Those seats are only $37.

Thanks for the input. I ended up getting the next to the last row, center mezz, right on the aisle, at only $37 each. We're so looking forward to our theater trip, five shows in four days!

Yes, I remember...
And when preview prices were really low compared to now. Sigh.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
