HONEYMOON IN VEGAS - I don't understand the hate

OK, I'll admit that I was pumped to buy tickets way in advance of my visit to New York based on Ben Brantley's rave. But after the wave of reactions on this board (and the other) I was concerned that I would be let down. What a relief to find a smart, well-crafted, funny, tuneful evening that stands as one of the best Musical Comedies of the last few years. It might not reach the comic heights of The Producers or Book of Mormon. But I'd put it above Full Monty, Gentleman's Guide and many others in the last few years. And I'd argue that it has a score that tops them all. I smiled the entire time and laughed out loud often at the entire story. Perhaps having never seen the film worked to my advantage. The show deserves a long run and I sure hope it gets it. The audience I watched it with this past Sunday seemed to eat it all up with a spoon.
