A wonderful show...but do we really need another revival? Guess I am getting old but I remember the delightful one 20 years ago.

I didn't see that revival, and 20 years is MORE than enough time between revivals of the most exquisite musical ever created. Bring it. Quickly.

I'm guessing there are a few people who didn't see that revival, even if they're old, too.

I'm also hoping they honor the original score this time and put back the wonderful "Tango Tragique" (I believe it was cut because the range was too wide for Gaines - it has since been written out of the rental materials as well. A shame.)

There were also some significant musical changes to "Twelve Days To Christmas" and some minor adjustments in other songs - I can take those or leave them - but I really miss the Tango.

Not only is it a great number for Georg, but it adds so much to the scene. He's there, a churning mix of emotions, leaning more towards the snippy side, since that's his SOP with Amalia. She's there, devastated that Dear Friend hasn't come and angry that her workplace enemy has. The scene itself is terrific, thanks to Masteroff's mastery, but I think it's far stronger with the song. It helps lead to Amalia's vicious lashing-out at Georg--and his swift exit afterwards.

I would be surprised if Radnor has a wider range than Gaines, but I would be happily surprised.
