There's a one-two punch at the end of EASTLAND, a new-ish musical: "A Small Mystery" and "Only the River Remains."

The former is about an elderly woman who claims the body of her grandchild from a makeshift morgue, before revealing that she's the only one in the family left.

The latter is about how those lost in the disaster - and, by extension, everyone listening - can and will quickly fade from life and memory.

And yet, somehow, the knowledge of that mortality feels OK, in no small part thanks to Andre Pluess and Ben Sussman's melody.
