Naive question, but are investors always in it for the money? In the opera world, donors routinely gift productions to opera houses, obviously with no expectation of returning a profit. Might not a similar logic sometimes obtain here? People might just really like Chita and want to donate to the production in order to get her on Broadway. It is a donation to the arts, not a commercial venture (although if it does make money, that is a nice bonus).
