It would help if both top Times had not reviewed regional productions without expressing great enthusiasm for the piece. And, of course, it is the most recent of those regional productions that is coming to the Lyceum (perhaps with a few cast changes in supporting roles and minor adjustments, but essentially that production). Having said that, I agree with robert_j that some investors may feel that they're making an important contribution to the arts, akin to making a contribution to a nonprofit company. Investors in the Broadway transfer of Caroline, or Change stated that they were expecting to lose their money, but they felt it was important that the show be seen on Broadway (or something along those lines).
