With a unique style and an exotic sound, Ms. Linh mesmerizes audiences with her soothing vocals. Ms. Linh has been singing since age twenty. Self-taught and drawn to jazz in college by the classic voices of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole though she credits her love of singing to the melodious songs she heard growing up in her Vietnamese community, and her unique style to a most unusual personal history for a singer of American jazz. Ms. Linh was born in Nha Trang, Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon, hundreds of thousands fled to neighboring countries and the United States. Nine year old Thùy and her family were on one of the boats heading for the US.About the same time in her life, Thùy was also on a personal journey. As a child, she had contracted polio. Soon after, the young girl had to deal with the effects of post-polio syndrome. The effects however did not prevent her from going forward and pursuing her dream of singing. Currently Ms. Linh is creating original compositions in collaboration with the poet Bashou. The first in the series is Lotus Child and the second is Lady Moon.
