And she could have joined her son again in a show.

and if not Shirley Jones, what about Debby Reynolds? Jane Powell? (who just celebrated their birthdays together!)

I could think of a dozen old actresses that would be great in that part!!

Isn't it American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) and not ATC?

Just saying!!!

I love Shirley Jones and Jane Powell, two exemplars of the All-American girl who have aged into lovely octogenarians.

But neither of them is more suited to the role of an aging Swedish courtesan than Dana Ivey, who is a delicious actress.

And since when is it expected to see old Hollywood stars at ACT?

If Jane Powell had been Mme. Armfeld Eddy would have gone every night to see her. He met Jane in Chicago and he was so much in love with her. When we were in London one year we went to the Dress Circle that sold Broadway and London show albums and there was a big poster of Jane Powell starring in "Irene".

Eddy said I have got to have that. I am not sure how much he paid but we carted it all over Europe in our travels that year. It is now hanging in this back room in honor of Eddy along with over 60 photos and playbills that align the walls of what I call my computer room.
