Their musicals are not their strongest suit. I remember "My Fair Lady" and "Music Man" in particular. I did not give them a good review. Maybe because I saw much better productions in the past. However that said I am sure both of these musicals had great fans to a town that does not see musicals very often

I will say their production of "She Loves Me" several years ago was on the best productions of this musical I had ever saw.

Sorry not going up this year

Dear Mr. Connema,

It always touches my heart strings when someone from the GREAT BIG CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO is patronizing toward the medium size city of Ashland. Your comment is a perfect example. "However that said I am sure both of these musicals had great fans to a town that does not see musicals very often."

Dear Mr. Connema, I know there are countless numbers of musicals produced in the GREAT BIG CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO year in and year out. On the other hand, musicals in Ashland don't happen once in a blue moon.

Dear Mr. Connema, to you the GREAT BIG CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO is the center of the universe, so you probably don't pay any attention to the rest of us. You have been to the OSF for many years, so I would assume you have learned that the audience comes of other parts of the West and even parts of the country. It would a safe bet to state many OSF patrons see musicals often.

Cheers.

Oregon Cabaret Theatre does small musicals, some of them quite decent. OSF is doing a second musical this year, a world premiere jukebox musical called "Head Over Heels." It will perform in the Elizabethan Theatre this summer. The writer is Jeff Whitty, and the music is taken from The Go-Gos catalog. There is a comercial producer attached to this project, but the OSF production is independent. I scored a ticket to see a panel featuring the creative team this morning and now wish I was planning to come up again this summer.

I do think that OSF gives a segment of its audience a chance to see a professional production of musicals that it might not otherwise see.

Bill, headed soon to see the final play of the weekend before returning to San Diego
