The Cervantes/Quixote model.

There's no easy parallel, and many people find "La Mancha" a middlebrow snore. But many do not, and it's safe to say it's a beloved enough classic.

But imagine if most of the foreground action were about Cervantes? Rather than the framing device? The tale of how he wrote it? When Kiley et al transform themselves into Quixote for the first number, it's a powerful, active point of access for a musical. The writer is also an actor. And as an actor with a rich tale to set forth, he propels everything that follows, telling a story in which he is the centerpiece.

It's a good enough example of what's wrong about the premise of NEVERLAND.

(And yes, "imput" in my post above should be "input.)
