Cesare Siepi, another famous Don Giovanni like Ezio Pinza, starred in two Broadway flops, though he wasn't the cause of their failures: "Bravo, Giovanni" and "Carmelina".

Grace Moore started on Broadway, I believe in one or several editions of Irving Berlin's Music Box revues before becoming a huge opera star and being the first female opera star to get an Oscar nomination for "One Night of Love"--a fine film, btw.

The first opera star to get an Oscar nomination, baritone Lawrence Tibbett, for the lost film "The Rogue Song", actually came back to Broadway as a replacement for Ezio Pinza in "Fanny", but apparently Tibbett's glorious voice was very much in decline by that time. The soundtrack of "Rogue Song" exists as do a few scenes with Tibbett and co-stars Laurel and Hardy.

Patricia Neway also score a hit in Menotti's Broadway-produced opera, "The Consul".

The late mezzo Tatiana Troyanos was in the chorus of "The Sound of Music".

Baritone Giorgio Tozzi starred in a revival of "The Most Happy Fella" which was alos notable for the show's entire lack of amplification, perhaps the last such one on Broadway.

There have been other instances of opera singers on Broadway as well. I always rather thought Fredrica von Stade would have done well as a crossover. Yes, AlanScott, I know you'll object to that, but she is/was a fine singing actress, and some of her recordings of the American Song Book are gorgeous.
