I felt this suffered from a book and score that kept re-iterating the central premise. There were some songs I liked and there were a number of solid performances, but the show completely lacked tension for me. It has one central simple premise and when that is played out, there is no follow-up. No ramifications. No second thoughts. No sense of satisfaction or not. I would have cut half the music and ended the first act where the play ends now and then used the second act to see the long-term response and effect on the town and Claire. Very happy to have seen Chita do this and it was by no means a total bust for me but I don't think I could sit through it a second time. And on a small note, it drove me crazy that we're told that Claire has a prosthetic leg and a prosthetic arm, yet the movement was only minimally restricted in the leg and not restricted at all in the hand. Am I being picky?
