The weeklies are $433,000. There average Net Adjusted Box Office has been $183,000. That means that in the first six weeks, they have lost $1.5 million. The reserve was $1.1 million. So they have lost $400,000 above the budget, and will likely lose another $1 million to just get to Tonys night.

This is to me, another example of what is wrong with Broadway today (As opposed to the 50s 60s 70s 80s). I love Chita. I love Kander and Ebb. So do you. But for six weeks this show's grosses have been microscopic.

In an earlier age, the show would have closed the week it opened. No advance. Huge losses.

But somehow today almost every show (not LIVING ON LOVE - proud that their producers did the right thing, the professional thing) continues to bleed money long after all hope is lost ... SIDE SHOW and HONEYMOON IN VEGAS are two recent examples. GIGI and IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU are two current examples - and for whatever reason, despite great reviews (no stars?) Hand to God remains in rough shape at the box office.
