Four or five years ago I was at the opening of a revival of a Neil SImon play -- I think "Brighton Beach Memoirs" -- at the Nederlander, and Joan RIvers was one of the last people to arrive -- racing down the aisle in the orchestra at the last minute. Nobody gave her an ovation, though some stared.
