The Astaire Awards used to be a class act when the categories held 3 nominees. This selection process really meant something. Now everyone gets nominated and ridiculous people that are not even dancing per se get nominated. I assume like most everything today, the more people and shows that are nominated, the more tickets will be sold to the event. I believe a charity might be involved in the Astaire Awards (does anyone know for sure) - so that is a good thing, I suppose. But the award itself has become a bit of a joke with the expansion of the categories and "non-dancing" performances that get nominated.
