The Astaire Awards used to be the only real "dancers" award that celebrated Broadway dance stars. The number of nominees were small and they were the absolute top of their field. These awards have disintegrated into a celebrity pandering joke. They have taken all the class and prestige of the the Astaire legacy and tarnished it over the years by nominating non dancing celebrities over talented lesser known Broadway talents. Even this year, nominating non dancing broadway principals is beyond confusing and absurd. I have never been so disappointed by an organization that claims to stand for artists. With all due respect, they should take a good long look at themselves and re-haul the entire process.
