Like Ann, I think there is an audience outside New York for the older and famous titles. Unlike, say, Guys and Dolls or South Pacific, this is a famous one that does not get seen much locally. So it would have the advantage both familiarity (famous movie, too, even if we know how unfaithful the movie is) and relative freshness because most people are not likely to have ever seen it before onstage.

As part of subscription series and with relatively short runs, I think it could do fine.

If the production had been announced as a three-month limited engagement in New York, it would have done fine.

Personally, I would not be surprised if it picks up the revival Tony. I'm not necessarily expecting it, but I wouldn't count it out. If it does, that gives them an extra selling point on the road (although it probably only means a little, not a lot).

Would it go through the roof on the road? No. But it might do well enough to make it worthwhile.
