St. Louis native and Broadway actress and singer, Lisa Rothauser, grew up with a passion for singing and a love of showbiz. She broke away from small town life and made it to the bright lights of Broadway only to be swept away to the ‘burbs by the man of her mother’s dreams. WTF? Ready for a change, Lisa sent the husband packing, dropped the kids off at school, and is headed straight back to the stage. LIFE. WTF? is her hilarious and inspiring musical transformation from Broadway performer to Stepford wife and back again. About the Artists Lisa Rothauser grew up in St. Louis, MO, aka "The Lou," where she began her performing career at age seven, singing "Cool Rider" from Grease 2 at a family party. After receiving her Bachelor’s of Music from Truman State University (Kirksville, MO), where she also won the Gold Medal Concerto/Aria Competition with the “Bell Song” from Delibes' Lakmé, Lisa continued her music education at Boston University’s School for the Arts, where she studied classical voice with world-renowned teacher, Penelope Bitzas and received a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance. Lisa then performed in regional productions, including Guys and Dolls (Sarah), Chicago (Velma), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), Once on This Island (Erzulie), The Phantom of the Opera (Christine), Swinging on a Star, The Mikado (The Huntington Theatre), Lend Me a Tenor (American Stage Festival) and Master Class (opposite Lucie Arnaz). Soon after moving to New York City, Lisa originated the roles of Marie Tovesky and Rachel/Hagar in the world premiere productions of O Pioneers! (The Producers Club) and Songs of Paradise (Caldwell Theater). Armed with a wig and bald cap, she then landed the role of Lick Me Bite Me in the Second National Tour of The Producers with her original comedic parody of “Mein Heir,” entitled “Mein Hair,” subsequently going on to play Hold Me Touch Me and Lick Me Bite Me in the Broadway production opposite Brad Oscar, Hunter Foster, and Tony Award winner, Roger Bart. Lisa then mounted Bye Bye Lisa, a one-woman show at The Studio in New York City. Soon after, she performed in Mock Your World, a musical parody (The Zipper Theatre, Laurie Beechman Theatre, Ars Nova). Focusing on her composing and writing skills, Lisa wrote a full-length original musical called Stealing Time with Grammy-nominated composer and producer, Tor Hyams. After debuting at NYMF 2012, the show has had numerous NYC readings (starring Eden Espinosa, Julia Murney, Jeremy Kushnier), was accepted to the Finger Lakes Musical Theater Festival and has now attracted Joe Calarco to direct. In addition to musical theater, Lisa has appeared in numerous television commercials, voice-overs, music videos and play readings (Israel Horovitz’s The Vote in Orange opposite Bobby Cannavale and Kevin Kline0. She also starred in an original series for Nickmom.com called Mommy Needs a Time Out.” Grammy nominated songwriter, Tor Hyams, and veteran Broadway performer, Lisa Rothauser teamed up after Hyams debuted his first original musical, Greenwood, at NYMF 2011. They immediately began collaborating on Stealing Time, which debuted at NYMF 2012, was featured in the Finger Lakes Musical Theater Festival and is now being taken out regionally. Under their moniker, Big Clock Music, Hyams and Rothauser also compose for commercials, television and film. The duo is part of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in New York and they were admitted to the Johnny Mercer Writer's Colony at Goodspeed Opera House. They are currently working on Auburn, The Musical and a project for the School of Rock.
