I agree. To be a commercial success on Broadway, a straight play needs bankable stars or needs to be a transfer from a highly acclaimed London production (WAR HORSE, CURIOUS INCIDENT) or from an even more highly acclaimed regional production (in which case it may still need a bankable star).

Unfortunately, a Pulitzer Prize (coupled with a MetroCard) will only get you a ride on the subway.
