At first I wondered why an intermission for something this short, but "cleaning" aside, here's a situation where the intermission was important for the movement of the play.

What a terrific ensemble. And I have to add kudos for Fugard as a director. There's many a time that it's suggested writers shouldn't direct their own work, but this is going to be my example (and standard) for when it works.
