Sorry, missing the point of your post. Clayton Milton Hamilton's writings are important but what are you trying to say with this post?
As I see it, Shaw led O'Neill to Ibsen and then to Stindberg and ultimately to the "life lie" of "The Iceman Cometh". And O'Neill, from Ibsen,("The Lady from the Sea') to Albee and "Seascape" and the idea that perhaps we come to the conclusion that man once had to choose to whether he would be a land animal or a creature of he sea, and having chosen the land, he carries with him a secret sorrow for the element he has forsaken.
Where is the laziness in begetting good theatre?
