Funny you highlight that... I saw the show recently with JCM, and I loved it. But I hate the new version of Sugar Daddy... it's the one thing in the production I didn't like. I also hated it on the Tonys but it was a surprise to me there... even knowing it was a rock version, I was disappointed. I think it works WAY better as country-rock, and the song is clearly written that way (or so it sounds to me). Not sure why it was changed, it was always a fun change of pace/tone/sound from the res of the harder score.
