I know we don't need another "The Visit" post....but....

I did love the show. However, one of the reasons I'm glad it's finally playing on Broadway is that even if it doesn't run long, it should soon be available for stock and regional theaters to produce. I don't know how frequently it will be done, but I look forward to seeing it in another production at some point. I'd love to see this piece done on a thrust stage. I'm also curious to see other director's interpretation of it.

So, please know that I am aware that I am going on A bit of a rant in my support of this show. But why not? I recall countless posts analyzing Marin Mazzies interpretation of Carries White's mother. It seemed absolutly comical the attention given something like Carrie. I understandd the fascination but it really at the end oF the day, felt an absurd thing to spend so much time on.

So when it comes to something as substantial as THE VISIT POST AWAY!!!
I really think there is a certain amount of discremination going on here. Because the artists are OLD, many feel this is the main reason for their nominations.

So it is not "sexy" enough in a socially political sense. I call foul on that. I think what is exhilarating about the piece is that these are artists in their 70's and 80's who are working at the peak of their powers. I personally think that is sexy as hell. I get the sense that Lin Manuel Miranda in his tweets feels The Same way.

Not really sure why I am posting about this show as I hardly ever post. I don't know...I truly think it is a harrowing and brilliant work and the only one that people will be addressing with intellect and integrity 25 to 50 years from now. So once more please allow me....THE VISIT, 2015 TONY WINNER BEST MUSICAL. ok, laugh away but I just love the damn thing. AND I am not alone.

I'm here in LA. God knows when I'll ever get to see a production of THE VISIT. For now, I can appreciate the many different takes on this one. As with any other much discussed topic on ATC, if it doesn't interest you, it's simple to ignore it.
