In reply to: THE KING AND I extends run indefinitely at LCT and announces National Tour - Official_Press_Release 11:22 am EDT 05/06/15

Had they ever previously announced a closing date?

All Lincoln Center shows (and al non-profit shows generally) begin as limited runs. They recently announced that 'King and I" would extend to the end of the year. (I tried searching for that announcement on Playbill, but their search function is so lousy I quickly gave up.) But this is new news.

The original end date was July 5 and then it was extended through the end of the year right after opening. They always intended/hoped to have an open run but it wasn't official until today.

That's interesting. I had never heard of the July 5 closing date. I know that no closing date was ever listed on IBDb--I know because I looked it up, some time ago, and I think I may even have looked it up more than once. Usually IBDb will list a closing date if the show is a true limited engagement.
