There were years, yes, when the cutoff was the end of February. And in 1967, it was Feb. 18. But the 1967 awards were not just an hour of recaps. There were performances from each of the four nominated musicals, and the awards were all given out on the air. It ran eight minutes overtime. A lot fewer awards back then. And that first year moved fast.
