Yeah, I agree with you on that. Singing on the Oscars has been unkind to some strong performers. When Kristin Chenoweth sang a song from Enchanted, many in my family groaned because they wanted to hear Amy Adams sing again. I told them they would all change their minds once Chenoweth opened her mouth. And then she sang - poorly. It had to be her worst vocal performance I've ever seen her give. The last note was especially painful.Although my family knows who she is now, they still jokingly give me grief about her performance at that Oscars. What a stinker of a performance. :( Mike makes a good point about Renee's stage fright. It is such an obvious fact about her that I can't believe I overlooked it.
