Maggie and Jiggs briefly ran in BRINGING UP FATHER in 1925; THE KATZENJAMMER KIDS had a musical around 1920, but it didn't reach Broadway. There were a bunch of flops that didn't run three weeks in the early years of the century, all based on comics.. The only one I recall off the top of my head was 1908's FLUFFY RUFFLES, about a sweet, ditzy gal. FLUFFY's memorable for two reasons: an early score by Kern and a great show tune title, "There's Something Rather Odd About Augustus." One of my fave titles, ever!
