On the Town, Something Rotten!, Fun Home: Souvenir Programs?

Posted by: BroadwayTonyJ 12:05 pm EDT 05/07/15

I've already seen the above 3 shows on previous trips and will be back in New York tomorrow. Just wondering if any of them are offering Souvenir Programs now. Does anyone know?

I just saw the program for Curious Incident (it wasn't available when I saw it) and for such a great show it wasn't good. (and now you have my mind on souvenir programs- one of the best I've seen is American Idiot.)

When I was in town a few weeks ago, Fun Home's was already out. I asked at the theater about On The Town. They said one was coming, but it wasn't there yet. I don't think Something Rotten had one yet.

I wonder if one for SIDE SHOW will come out, even though it has closed. Some shows did order them and then closed, but still sold them online afterward. Hoping that happens with Side Show.

Scott

I didn't see them at Something Rotten on Tuesday. No new merch since I last saw it late in previews, although they were sold out of the steins.

Circle theater is one you can't sneak into after to buy stuff or grab a playbill. Even America airlines, I had gone past the souvenir booth by about 10 feet and decided to get the magnet and was quickly confronted by the guard to produce a ticket to go to the souvenir booth. I was able to pull out a playbill to satisfy him.

Some (but not all) theaters will have a girl or guy out front before the show selling the souvenir programs -- however, then you have to pay cash and sometimes they don't have the plastic slipcases with them.

I've never really had a problem being let into the theater before or after a show to buy merchandise, but I don't recommend sneaking in -- just ask an employee outside and tell him that you saw the show previously and now you want to buy some merchandise -- I've never been refused although some guards will ask for your driver's license and will hold it until you get back -- if it's a sold-out show and the crowd is insane, he may make you wait until things subside.

I've asked to go to the merchandise booth without seeing the show on that day several times, and it's never been an issue. No reason to sneak in. They want your money!
