Lerner wrote that the songs they played, first for Richard Halliday and then for Mary, were "Ascot Gavotte," "Just You Wait," "Please Don't Marry Me," "Lady Liza" and "Say a Prayer." No one seems to have written about Martin seeing the show and her reaction. One thing that I find interesting is that very early on, Dolores Gray was seriously considered as a possibility for Eliza. This was years before the show was actually produced. It was when the Theatre Guild was involved. The Guild even put together a production of Pygmalion with Gray to see how she was in the role. Tom Helmore, who later would be Harrison's standby for a few months and starred in productions of MFL a couple of times later, was Higgins. One of the few times Helmore went on for Harrison on Broadway, he lost his voice and they had to send the audience home after "Ordinary Man." From reading McHugh, you might think that the production with Gray was on Broadway, but it was at Westport, which Lawrence Langner of the Guild ran at the time.
