There are currently about 850 Tony voters. There were not always that many though which could be the reason for the greater number of ties in the earlier years of the awards.

For comparison, the Oscars have had 5 true ties plus what was then considered a tie when Frederic March received 1 more vote than Wallace Beery for Best Actor in 1932.
