There have been numerous attempts at Archie musicals that have never gotten off the ground--I think I personally know three or four separate teams who have worked on it. In the early 90s, Galt MacDermot and Josh Rubins wrote a musical based on Blondie, but I don't believe it was ever staged. The 80s-90s indie comic The Desert Peach (about Rommel's fictional gay brother) was turned into a musical that played in Seattle. Gary William Friedman, Dennis Green, and Bob Randall wrote a musical based on Hagar the Horrible that was announced for Broadway in the mid-80s but never happened. I remember a musical version of the gay-themed comic strip Jayson playing off-off-Broadway in the late 90s. Wikipedia mentions musicals based on Luann and Garfield, but I don't know anything about them. Also Kudzu, which has played lots of places but not New York. Seth, who's surely missing some
