I always loved Alexis Smith and was thrilled to see her in stock in APPLAUSE. She remained gorgeous and tall and stately her entire career. I was very young when I saw her win the Tony for FOLLIES and thought even then that she might be a dynamic Mame Dennis. One of the best things about being old (in fact the only good thing about being old) is the memory of all those wonderful Broadway babies like Alexis. Thanks for the very special memory. Alexis was never terribly drab. buzzie
