HEDWIG 30 minutes ago

Posted by: hitbycab 10:21 pm EDT 05/07/15

I AM STILL REELING!!

I am a Hedwig virgin having never seen it before so I have nothing to compare Darren Criss too except himself!!

I can Gleefully report he Succeeded beyond any expectations!!

HE IS A DYNAMIC FORCE OF NATURE!!!

For 90 or so minutes, the energy level is beyond capacity. He sings, he emotes, he cries, he laughs, he struts, he belts, he torments, he galvanizes!!!
What a performance. Nothing like I have ever seen him come close too. This is a tour de force for any performer and holy Hedwig does he deliver!!

This is a friggin rock concert!! Covered in various wigs and costumes and glitter and dripping with bitterness and sarcasm, Darren ends the show stripped (nearly) of all the trappings and bares (almost) his very soul.

Rebecca Naomi Jones was incredible as Hedwig's "husband"...a beautifully layered performance. The band ROCKED...naturally..but I mean really rocked!!

So glad GLEE is over. How could i see Mr Criss as Blaine anymore??? What a brave actor he is.

and...he touched my face as he strutted by the aisle...

This is a theatrical experience. My reason for this trip. Mission Accomplished, Sugar Daddy!!!

Tomorrow back to the sublime An American in Paris...

I'm thrilled to hear that you are thrilled with Darren! I changed my summer trip to be able to see him in this role (my third Hedwig), so I'm glad that you loved him so much! Now I'm sure that I will too. :-D

Very Nicely-nicely said, cabbie! (You might have to change your name to hitbyUber at some point, the way things are going, btw)

Now I feel I should try to see him. He isn't totally selling out -- a lot to with the decline of Glee's popularity. So I think I will be able to see him at a discount at some point.

This is one show that I don't like sitting close to because it's so loud. I sat in the fourth row for MPH and it was pretty earsplitting.

For JCM I saw further back and got a better view of the design and lighting.

well i have to disagree with that - I saw NPH and Andrew from far back and felt it lacked immediacy.
Seeing JCM up close again reminded me of the Jane Street. So maybe not too close but definitely not too far back :)

I was in the 3rd row left side aisle seat and it was perfect for me...
Others are on the right side got a bit drenched...no spoilers....

Hope you get a good seat...

you're seeing AAIP again? I'm wondering if you have free tickets, and if not, if there are any new shows on B'way you haven't seen yet? And man, you really are reeling. how fun.

I wish JCM had opened the revival so he could have been in the running for the season's accolades.

Any chance of a tour of this? Or did I miss it being announced

I thought he was very good his first performance--now it sounds like he's fully found his footing.

Glad the show is still running---any chance of a tour?
