The Stella Adler Studio of Acting will be holding its 10th Annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala this Monday, May 11 at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City. This year’s honorees include actor Ethan Hawke (Marlon Brando Award), Orange Is the New Black actress Kate Mulgrew (Stella Adler Award), award-winning playwright, screenwriter and director John Patrick Shanley (Group Theater Award) and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and MSNBC contributor Trymaine Lee (Harold Clurman Spirit Award).

10th Annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala. Proceeds from the 10th annual gala will benefit the Stella Adler Studio of Acting’s programs, including its Outreach Division, which serves many underprivileged populations including inmates at Rikers Island.

Over the years, the Stella by Starlight Gala has honored some of the most distinguished artists in the entertainment and media industries. They have included James Earl Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Harry Belafonte, Rosie Perez, Liz Smith, Warren Beatty, Liza Minelli, Martin Sheen, Annette Bening, Harold Bloom, Tony Kushner, Stephen Sondheim, George Takei, the late Elaine Stritch and the late Ruby Dee as well as other key entertainment, theatrical and business leaders.

Proceeds from the 10th annual gala will benefit the Stella Adler Studio of Acting’s programs, including its Outreach Division, which serves many underprivileged populations including inmates at Rikers Island.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting is an acting school and cultural center based in New York City founded by actress and teacher Stella Adler in 1949. The studio has trained many of the brilliant actors of our time, including Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, and Elaine Stritch.
