Hey all,

My teenage cousin wants to audition for Wednesday in her HS production of Addams Family.

Any song recommendations?

Thanks a bunch!

I am NOT an expert on good audition material, and I think there's a school of thought that says you should only use songs from shows, but the first thought I had was perhaps one of Tom Lehrer's wonderful ditties, such as "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" or a few verses from "An Irish Ballad."

"Sodomy" from "Hair"....they'll remember her.

Wonderful song suggestion. And the gestures alone could guarantee her a firm place in the finals.

All kidding aside, "Frank Mills" would actually be a perfect choice. Or, unless they're specifying that it needs to be a song from a show, any standard pop/rock song would work.

However - I'm going to say what I always say - unless she has a lot of time to prep (a few weeks, perhaps), or has no material at all to sing, learning a new song for an upcoming audition is never a good idea. So, my first question would be - what has she already sung before that she could offer?
