I attended a performance of Chicago when he was POTUS. Everyone knew he was doing a NY theater weekend and the shows he was seeing, but not in what order. On the morning of our Saturday night show, we received a phone call asking us to get to the theater early, and it was not hard to figure out why. There was an electric atmosphere as we all entered the theater (passing through magnetometers), and after the house lights went to half, they entered the theater, and sat a few rows behind us, one seat removed from an aisle (a Secret Service agent had the aisle seat.)

At intermission, as people walked up the aisle, virtually everyone stopped to shake his hand, saying things like "it's a honor to meet you, Mr. President", or "thank you for supporting the theater, Mr. President." As I worked my way up the aisle, I decided to see if I could get him to engage in a brief conversation, so I said: "Mr. President, we have something in common." He said, "What's that?" and I replied that our daughters were both leaving home for college in the fall. The conversation went on, he brought Hillary into it, and I recall every word which I won't bore you with. But the last thing he said was: "I hope you're looking forward to it more than I am."

Obviously a memorable night at the theater for me.
