>>Or with more passion and interest in the position. but more often with a lesser degree is expertise. passion and interest aren't the criteria for a good critic; knowledge and discernment are. passion and interest are fine for folks playing pretend critic on message boards - or even for folks just expressing options and sharing reactions - but critic is a real job that serves a real function. journalists passing (or more often being mis-read) as critics muddied the water but the idea that the internet has turned everyone into a critic is inaccurate. i can buy a white coat and wear a stethoscope but it wouldn't make me a doctor.
