Though the Times obit doesn't make this clear, she actually won three Obie Awards - the first was for her performance at the Public Theater in STICKS AND BONES, before it moved uptown so that she could win the Tony as well. I had the honor of being present at what may have been her very last performance of all - a private sitdown reading in a rehearsal room of a play by a friend of mine. This was just a few months ago, but she missed nothing: As always, her work was a model of clarity, incisiveness, and emotional fullness.
