Between riverside and crazy at act

Posted by: dramedy 12:22 pm EDT 09/09/15

Sometimes Pulitzer winning plays are good and others are duds that make you scratch your head, how did that win. Well, the 2015 winner had a very smart productions at act. Carl lumbly gives a masterful performance on stage as the patriarch of a disfunctional family. The author, Stephen guirgis, wrote motherf***er with a hat that was an ok play. But this play has very well flushed out characters, very funny dialog and touching moments throughout. I highly recommend catching this play before it closes by the end of the month.

Hardly? So you didn't like it?

Or heartily?

Saw it in NY with the magnificent Stephen McKinley Henderson. It's a very good play.

The Atlantic production was a month in the summer last year. Now that it won the Pulitzer, I would have thought it might get another production. But winning Pulitzer doesn't guarantee success on Broadway since Anna in tropics, disgraced and clybourne park are three examples of shows produced on Broadway after winning the Pulitzer and failed at the boxoffice.

It played the Atlantic in July/August last year, and then Second Stage for about six weeks in February/March this year.

That probavly was enough to generate buzz if it was to transfer even though the Pulitzer announcement was after itt closed.
