In a city rife with corruption, it takes an honest “man of the people” to battle the crooks and carry the banner of the common citizen. Fiorello overcomes incredible odds as he rises to power in these tumultuously changing times, finding purpose and even a bit of romance along the way. The bright, tuneful score and compelling script garnered three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Drama (which has only been awarded to eight musicals in Broadway history). Fiorello! is a witty, sweet, and upbeat tale that will have you, too, cheering for the “little man with a big heart.” The SBMT production, featuring a cast of 29 and a full orchestra, and stars Tim Reynolds and Michael Cuddy of San Jose. Director of the show is C. Michael Traw of Santa Clara. Producer Jay Steele of San Jose says this is the first time “Fiorello!” has been staged at the Saratoga Civic Theatre.
