Sadly I did not have the same happy feelings with this show. I don't know MUCH ADO but do know the Beatles. I thought the mod setting was great but found the costumes, though eye-catching, were ill-fitting and sloppy. I loved the music but thought the text bouncing back and forth between direct Shakespeare and new dialogue was jarring and wished they'd gone in one direction or the other. Loved Molly Parker, liked Justin Kirk, wondered why Don Best looked 15 years older than the other Quartos. I also wondered why all the performances were so over the top and pushed, yet I didn't really get the sense there was a true ensemble at work. I blame that on the director as I blame the rather smug "we're so clever!" attitude I felt for most of the show. I would love to see this work, but for me it is still a ways away from being the solid entertainment it could be. IMHO
