far too bloated, and every song a big production number.
NLB holds little appeal for me.
BUT ---
I'd be willing to give it another shot in a revised, scaled down format.
Just my two cents.

But if every song is a big production number, then won't scaling it down just mean doing big numbers anemically? Sounds like the problem is in the writing.

Didn't care for it on Broadway.

LOVED it in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night!!

Anyone in the South Florida area over the next two weeks should make an effort to take in this production, and the wonderful performances of Shane Tanner & Ann Marie Olson.

Thrilling.

And extremely moving.

I'm so glad to see ''Big Fish'' have another life after Broadway. I'm a sucker for father-son stories, and it really got to me. I loved Andrew Lippa's score, especially ''Time Stops,'' and thought he deserved a Tony nomination.

I'm assuming Slow Burn is using the revised SpeakEasy version that cuts the cast to 12 and features a 6-piece bluegrass band (instead of an orchestra). And deletes 4 songs from the Broadway version. (But does it have any new tunes?)

Though ''Big Fish'' didn't land in NYC, Lippa says it's already on the hook and licensed for about 100 other productions.

They have a cast of eighteen, and the six-piece band is not "blue grass" sounding, as I recall. (But rather sounds like a full orchestra down in that pit.)

Comparing the song list from their program to what's listed on the original cast recording, it's almost identical. Except they have something called "Out There On The Road" (between "Two Men in My Life" and ""Little Lamb from Alabama"), and they don't list "The Procession" (near the end, between "How It Ends" and the "Be a Hero" reprise.)

Slow Burn is a young company run by young talented people who did a terrific 'SIDE SHOW' a couple of years ago. For South Florida, their choices of musicals are refreshingly odd and daring, from 'CARRIE' to 'CHESS' to 'HIGH FIDELITY,' to the upcoming 'DOG FIGHT' and 'HEATHERS,' when most other companies down here stick to old reliables like 'HELLO, DOLLY!,' 'OKLAHOMA!,' 'WEST SIDE STORY,' 'THE KING & I,' etc.

I recommended this production a few weeks back when someone was looking for suggestions this week. I traveled from St. Pete to see their Chess last year and was astonished at the quality of the production and performances. Add to that their cutting edge choices of shows and you have one fine company.

"Out There On The Road" is on their song list AND on the cast recording.

BUT ... they have something called "Ashton's Favorite Son" between "Two Men" and "Out There On The Road," and I don't see that on the cast recording.
