...that these special event digital screenings are often botched, as was the case when I saw MY FAIR LADY last week at Symphony Space. From what I could tell, it seemed like the restoration itself is beautiful, but the digital scan lines (or whatever the word is) were very pronounced in the image, plus the sound kept going slightly out of synch -- and, believe it or not, the sound was in mono. A friend of mine had an equally bad experience when he saw MFL -- or attempted to see it -- in Chelsea. He told me he left as soon as he realized the film wasn't being project properly. Really, really sad.
