| The service, launched by Broadway producers Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley, includes a library of more than 100 shows. It is available for $14.99 monthly or $169.99 annually. !!! | |

| Few authors, IMO, would cannibalize their potential earnings from a legit film adaptation by selling off these rights. In my mind, that limits the majority of offerings to dead playwrights, foreign or non-Equity productions. Plus, all of the 'Broadway' musical offerings can be purchased as DVDs. In fact, there's a 3-4-1 DVD of J&H, Putting It Together and Smoke Joe's on Amazon for $20.83. | |

| This purpose of this site, it appears, is to convince the various theatre unions to make a deal. The site will say "look at all this money people are willing to spend--isn't it worth cutting into potential ticket sales to get a piece of that?" This is not a new tactic. Priceline.com launched many years ago with the pretense that if you "named your price" for a flight, they might be able to get it for you. It was a fiction: the real purpose was to gather data about what people were willing to pay, and to present the result to the airlines as a report showing a huge amount of unmet demand, convincing them to cut deals with Priceline. It worked. | |

| Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are some wonderful performances from British screen and stage luminaries in all those BBC productions from the 70s-early 90s, but this is a bit of a joke. I understand having business plans and the pressure to stick to launch dates, but if this is all they were able to negotiate for, perhaps they should have waited until they had a more varied and attractive catalog before going live. Well, at least their branding doesn't overpromise. Kudos to the intern who designed that logo in MS Paint last night. | |

| Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I look forward to this becoming a legit thing in the future. The selections are kinda "meh" right now. Funny that something called BroadwayHD has about 90% BBC content. | |

| I wonder what Broadway offerings they'll ever be able to have. Only things that have already been screened for the public outside of the theater, right (I see Memphis is there already)? That's not much for Broadway. The expenses are just too high. And there's a familiar logo on the Broadway show images - of a previous company whose name I can't remember at this time ... | |

| Of course Stewart Lane is going to use "Broadway" in the title, even it's mostly inaccurate. Don't you know that, according to him, he's "Mr. Broadway?" He copyrighted the title, so it must be true :-) That said, the idea itself sounds good. | |
