Sondheim's 85th Birthday Gala - Anyone Attend?

Posted by: DistantDrumming 02:46 pm EDT 10/26/15

Hey UK ATCers - did any of you attend Sondheim's 85th Birthday gala at the Drury Lane this past week? Haven't heard much about it. Perhaps it's just my ignorance of British musical theatre stars, but I get the impression it was not as glamorous an affair as the NY Phil 80th Birthday celebration. Nor the 1990s Carnegie Hall tribute concert. While I know we all - Mr. S himself, included - probably have Sondheim tribute fatigue, it does seem a shame there aren't any major tributes to him in NY or LA this year. Well, there's always his 90th!

Still, I'm wondering how it was, what the performance were like, whether Sondheim himself attended. Anyone go?
