Forbes: Disney Productions Are Among Many Smart Moves For Paper Mill Playhouse

Interesting Forbes article on Paper Mill Playhouse linked below.

A photo caption describes Ever More as being Broadway bound IMHO, it is the most likely of Paper Mill's recent B'way. hopefuls to achieve major success.

Happily, Paper Mill seems to have found the right formula for its growth and success.

But why hasn't Paper Mill ever won a regional Tony?

That's always puzzled me. In recent years, it's been the launching pad for ''Newsies'' and ''Honeymoon in Vegas,'' but it began in 1938.

And its alumni reads like a who's who: Tallulah Bankhead, Barbara Cook, Jane Fonda, Bea Lillie, Myrna Loy, Ann Miller, Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera. Plus, Bernadette Peters, Patrick Swayze and Kristin Chenoweth. Its productions of ''Show Boat'' and ''Crazy for You'' were aired on PBS. And winners and nominees from its Rising Stars program, which celebrates high school students, have included Laura Benanti, Rob McClure and Anne Hathaway.

The Regional Tony has been given out since 1976 - almost 40 years. It seems that the Paper Mill is waaaay overdue for recognition.

Does it qualify? It's not a LORT theater.

There's nothing in the rules about being a LORT theater to qualify.

Based on past winners, I don't think Papermill is the kind of company typically recognized by the Tonys.

I figured that if I didn't make a mistake, you wouldn't know that it was me.

Like.\, as I've been told, "all stops" instead of "all stops out" in my review of The Bandstand.
